Late Deliveries
In general we cannot accept goods that arrive after our published close-off times. However, there is one way we can help. We must have all manifests, ECNs and documentation completed as soon as possible after our close off, so we need to know about your goods prior to close off. If we know what goods are coming, what the weight and number of parcels is and we have a Statement of Contents in our hands, then we can include them in our paperwork prior to their arrival at our warehouse. The only condition is that the goods MUST arrive as scheduled, since they will be on our manifest.

Statement of Contents
WE MUST HAVE A STATEMENT OF CONTENTS FORM FOR EACH CONSIGNMENT.
This SOC can be accessed and sent from our website. We need this form to tell us who the goods are to, who is paying, what the value is and we HAVE to have someone sign that there are no dangerous or hazardous goods in the consignment.

The priority system works like this. Medical supplies, mail and food for retailing are loaded first then priority freight is loaded. On the NJS Friday flight, Cocos Island goods are loaded first because they have two less flights per week than Christmas Island. It is best not to expect to get any Christmas Island freight on that Friday flight. If it is VITAL that your goods go on this flight, you should expect to upgrade to priority, but that does not guarantee uplift. Paying priority rates does not guarantee uplift but certainly does increase your chances of uplift.

GST
Some suppliers are still unaware that EXPORTS are GST exempt. The freight cost of getting your goods back to the mainland is also GST exempt. Some of the costs of customs clearance and AQIS inspections are exempt and some are not.

Packing of Freight
Please ensure that all sharps ends are securely protected. All parcels are physically manhandled and although pieces up to 100 kilos are acceptable, try not to exceed 25 kilos per parcel.
The maximum allowable length is 3 metres if the rod, pole or bar is flexible. For bulkier packages, it is safest to keep to 2.4 metres.Under-weight parcels will be cubed. One cubic metre should weigh 200 kilos, so large light boxes will be charged at a rate higher than their actual weight. Please pack as densely as possible.

Export Consignment Numbers
In July Customs brought the ECN requirements into line with parcels that are posted. Any consignment of $2000.00 or more will require an ECN. Any consignment that requires an export permit will require an ECN, regardless of value. If an ECN is required, we need to know the supplier’s ABN number

Consignors and Consignees
Each consignment may only consist of a parcel (or more) from one consignor to one consignee. Neither Freightshop, nor Customs will accept a consignment of parcels which include goods from different consignors to the one consignee on the Island

Freightshop can arrange to have your freight picked up from anywhere in the metro area. Freightshop can organise getting your goods from anywhere in Australia and then to the Island. Please call us once the goods ready and we can take care of the rest. All we need to know is how urgently your client wants the goods.

Freightshop is the only airfreight shipper to the Island from the mainland. The most cost effective way to send your freight is to deliver it to us from any point in Australia (or, we can collect it) so that we can freight it. It is generally not cost effective to ship your goods from (say) Sydney to the Island, unless we do it for you.

When a supplier signs our Statement of Contents that there are no dangerous goods, then they must be certain of this fact. There are SEVERE penalties for making a false statement.
Any dangerous goods must be separated from the rest of the consignment. If you are not not certified to label and package and supply the DG certification, please deliver the goods to DGM (Phone 94786700, at the Intl Airport) and have them label, pack and certify the goods. (This is an expensive operation, so if your client needs a spray can of paint; send 6 cans in case more are needed later!) DGM will then deliver the goods to us.
